Please be patient, I am a noob at this, I know this tutorial could be 2 minutes in length, but my production is fail ... How to setup and view an external monitor/TV on a Macbook Pro while the lid is close. Things you need: a mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, DVI to HDMI cable, external keyboard, and a external mouse. The mini DisplayPort is the white part and is connected to the dvi to hdmi cable, which is black.
